Exciting news from one of the members of NJCMO!
This year, Hudson Partnership CMO received a $125,000 Community Resource Development grant from the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. This grant supports new or existing activities or services through collaboration with community partners that reduces risks to child(ren) and youth well-being and promotes their safety, health, and connections at home and in the community.
Of that grant, $80,000 was awarded to a collaboration between the Jersey City Theater Center and The Spot JC, a creative space run by Terrence Williams, business entrepreneur in the photography and music industries, and Ibn Shakoor, a teacher, music artist and recently licensed therapist.
The two groups recruited youth from across Hudson County to participate in a multi-media art experience where they were taught by professional acting/directing coaches, local photographers and painters, and videographers. The youth wrote their own play to tell their story in their own words and the project culminated this March with a performance of their youth-directed play, along with other artwork they created in the process, at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City.
Congratulations to Hudson Partnership CMO and the participating youth!
